SOCIAL MOBILIZATION
The primary step of the Programme is to provide the social guidance to the communities in order to prepare them to initiate the development themselves at grass root level. Here, the communities at form in small geographical raqbas in the shape of small development groups, community organizations, village development organizations. They are organized on the basis of initial dialogues, follow up meetings and after assessing their perception level of community participation in in their development, they are organized into the groups to initiate the development programmes. Before their final; formation, the basic information is collected from that community concerned. They are provided the knowledge, skill and related information with complete awareness to involve themselves in the development efforts with support of the Organization. They communities are imparted training to strengthen themselves in order to involve themselves actively in the development activity.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT
Keeping in view the frequency of natural disasters in the Pakistan, BASIC EDUCATION REFORMS & DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (BERD) built the capacity of the staff to cope with disasters and emergencies both natural and manmade. The organization started its programme for Recovery; Relief and Rehabilitation disaster hit areas with the cooperation of national and international donors. A well-structured and Keeping integrated disaster administration mechanism has evolved over the years. Along with other organizations, BERD supplemented the efforts of the government at supplemented the efforts of the government at Central and International donors in providing a vital input during emergencies and for preparedness and rehabilitation. A team of well trained professional is in place and working in flood hit areas of Pakistan with a special focus to REACH TO UNREACHED..

EDUCATION
The functional education is the basic right of every citizen. The organization has included education in citizen. The organization has included education in its sectoral development programmes. The quality education knowledge required for exploring the socio-economic development avenues is the need of the time in national and internal scenario. As such communities are encouraged to establish institution at elementary and higher level on public private partnership. Education on scientific lines and equip the youths to joined hands in national development as well as enhance the productivity for national development. BERD plans to cooperate with public sector as well as private sector organizations to improve the quality of education with special emphasis to strengthen the working capabilities of the people at all levels.
SKILL ENHANCEMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME
Human Resource development is one of the important activities of the Foundation. Human capital or social capital is the important factor for socio-economic change in the society. The programme is to establish the training institutions to impart skills in the disciplines which are related to human development and strengthening their capacities to be productive member of the society and resulting income  generation and increasing self employment situation in the region. Organization wants to support the  communities to run the comprehensive literacy, education and training programmes in various disciplines throughout AJK, Pakistan. The organization has included the training programme such as:
- Teacher’s training for education for both male and female
- Poultry training programmes for female community members
- Forest Nursery raising by female community members
- Vocation training (ready-made) for female members
- Vegetable growing training for female community members
- Fruit and crop production for male population
- Micro-enterprise development by male population
- Pollution free environmental activities for male and female
BASIC HEALTH PROGRAM
The organization plans to support the communities to development basic health programme in the communities. The scopes of health care activities are the same as defined by WHO. These may include:
- Treatment of common eases and injuries
- Maternal Child Care Programme
- family planning services
- Immunization against diseases and prevention of epidemics.
NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Pakistan is blessed with rich natural resources and enjoys fertile land and agriculture potentials are in abundance. BERD plans to strengthen the local population group’s to harness these resources. This Organization plans to cater for more productive and integrated efforts for sustainability and better management of natural resources in order to preserve the natural beauty and ensure environmental pollution free zone. This will be achieved through: Strengthening the linkages with public and private sector organization. Imparting training in related fields Providing technical assistance to organized communities and Ensuring high yields in crops and vegetables Joining efforts with Ministry /Department of environment and forest Department to improve the green Kashmir programmes through plantations campaign in the region.
MICRO ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
There is a need to introduce and improve the informal sector in Pakistan. The community members who sector in Pakistan. The community members who have the education, knowledge, skill and business trends required support. Such community members will be linked up with financial institutions for monetary support in the shape of loans/credits as well as the donors at national and international level to seek financial support for improvement in livelihood for poor. The primary objective is to provide these people investment support to enhance their earnings/incomes and engage themselves in self-employment programmes in the area. Assistance for productive enterprise, micro business, agro base industries and small productive units is to b provided. The purpose is to utilize the social capital with technical financial support o develop and encourage self employment programmes.

PRODUCTIVE RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAMME
The Organization has included PRIP in its development activities. Communities need technical support for facilitation of their infrastructure schemes which they wish to initiate by the organized communities. This is to evolve a participatory approach for the organized population at grass root level. The identification of their needs there is a need to improvement these need based projects like rural roads, safe drinking water supply schemes, water harvesting structures, mini dams, foot bridges, water tanks constructions at community levels to store the rain water. GENDER
The Organization attaches a high priority for formal and informal training to local women in general management techniques, various vocational areas, and income generating activities and projects. Training is regarded not just as a means to the acquisition of knowledge and skills, but also as an attempt to raise standard of general awareness and consciousness of the communities at large. As a dynamic and interactive process, training stimulates change in the participant by building their ills base o broaden opportunities for appreciating and perhaps even enhancing their economic social and sociologic possibility frontiers. Women roles in public life are rapidly becoming more prominent on account of number of factors. Male our-migration, an increase in the number of education women the diversification of off-farm activities and broader-level institutional synergies including the emergence of local NGOs have all become instrumental in encouraging women to contribute more at the wider community level.
COMBATING CHILD LABOR
With the passage of time Child Labor has become a chronic problem of the country. The Foundations intends to share with efforts of public and private sectors to overcome this national problem. There is a need to offer school, skill enhancement training programmes for them those who could not receive education at early stage. This is important to enable them to become the useful land productive citizens of the society. The youth will be provided hazardous free environment to their lives. The Organization plans to cooperate and share the efforts withal public and private sector organizations.
